Creating more affordable homes
Construction is underway on 194 new apartments in two developments at Hawkins Lane and George’s Wharf. These are specifically designed to be affordable, long-term rental homes available through a Private Rental Scheme (PRS).
The buildings are now owned by Grainger, the UK’s biggest private landlord, who has been carefully chosen by the developer Cubex. Grainger is renowned for providing affordable homes for families, young couples and even downsizers who are not in a position to buy – or who don’t wish to. With that in mind, rents are set using the Shelter guidance that they will be no more than 30% of a person’s income.
Each of the one, two and three bed apartments will have access to an excellent range of communal facilities, including a rooftop terrace as well as WiFi and fibre optics as standard. The 38 apartments at Cask Store will complement the 198 apartments already built at Castle Wharf, Malt House and the Hop Store.
Construction has also started for 194 apartments at Hawkins Lane and George’s Wharf, specifically aimed at the private rental and corporate occupier markets.
This will deliver 437 apartments to the whole development when complete with 2,500 people living at Finzels Reach by 2019
